Currently, we work with the Ogiek people of Tinet, Kenya. We are helping to bring clean and sustainable water to their elementary schools, which act as community centers. We have built an electrified borehole well and rainwater catchment system. Now, we are fundraising and planning a new borehole well at a third school!
Two years ago, our chapter took first place in the Born Global biomimicry engineering competition. We designed a series of water pipelines that mimicked the process of slime mold. Last year, out chapter took second place with a water treatment system that mimicked the filtration methods of manta rays.
The children's book seeks to educate young children about the topic of inequality through the usage of stylized animal characters. We hope exposing children to topics such as global inequality will motivate them to be more altruistic and selfless in the future.
